Before I bought this online I shopped and shopped, comparison is the key. So I finally determined that this was the best choice for my needs. Ordering was simple and delivery was quick.I had it installed by a friend of mine which took a few hours, there was a lot to do for two doors.I am more than pleased with the features of this product. It came with EVERYTHING. There were a few features that I didn't expect. It can be programmed to auto-close 1, 5, or 10 minutes after you leave...in case you forget to close the door or if you are carrying in groceries or something.I like the security of the door locks. Each remote can be programmed to open three different doors. And, the lights are wireless which means you can place them anywhere in the garage. When you activate the door it relays wirelessly to the lights to turn on. We put LED lights in them so they come on instantly and there is a motion activated sensor for the lights so I rarely turn on the overhead lights. (Please note, the lights still have to be plugged in to the electric outlet for power.)I made a good choice.Really good unit. I needed something for my freestanding garage that does not block the space above the door, because I plan to install a lift. This meets that requirement and so I got it. BUT it is also programmable for up and down limits and thus is able to handle much taller doors (up to 15'). I have 9' doors and would have had to buy extensions for a traditional unit. This unit is also quite compact and is therefore easy for 1 person to install by themselves. It is extremely quiet and does not use much electricity. About the only downside is that without the traditional rail, it has no way to force the door to stay down against someone lifting it up from the outside. For that, it includes a bolt that it shoots out in front of a roller inside the frame, preventing it from lifting more than an inch or two.Absolutely beautiful! This is the best garage door opener I have ever owned or installed. The directions were easy to follow. The unit is smaller than you might think, extremely quiet and pretty easy to install. Mostly what you need to install this kit that you probably don't have in your tool box is a 3/4 inch steel drill bit. I used a 1/2 inch cone bit and then filed the hole bigger with a rat tail file. The garage door track is very soft metal and it probably took less than a minute to enlarge the hole with the file which is for the automatic security deadbolt. I love the motion detector for the remote light. The overall installation is no more difficult than an overhead unit but if I ever have to install another I would not consider an overhead unit. The only word of caution is that you need an electrical outlet within 6 feet of the unit. An extension cord is not recommended.First I had a 3800 at my old house for my barn because of door clearance issues, and it worked flawlessly... However this is for the new 8500 series Opener. The company that I purchased this from informed me that I would be getting an 8500, because the 3800 had been discontinued. The good news is the opener works great, it is fantastic, I set it up, and after monkeying with the controls I finally got it set up and the limits set... WHAT I DO NOT LIKE about the 8500 is the fact that in order for you to use a homelink remote on your vehicle (the standard 3 button remote that is available on just about every vehicle sold in the US for the past 15 years, will not work, you have to get a repeater to get the 8500 to work... The 8500 should work on homelink systems that are around 2013 or 2014 or newer, but I have read reports that it is not necessarily the case.I ordered the 3800 series, but was informed via e-mail that I would be receiving the newer 8500 series. The unit is very well made, and it requires only a small amount of space where it is installed. The remote light is an absolute unexpected bonus!! Just plug it in, and it works with wireless technology. This may sound dumb, but if you are mounting this on the ceiling, you might want to open the door all the way before choosing the installation location. I almost put it in a place where with the door open all the way, the light would have been blocked.I will be buying a second one of these soon for my other door, and from the same company who sold me this one.i have the garage opener for about a week now and every day i have to program it to make it work. no matter how many times i program it it always flashes 10 times which means that you have to program it again. it is frustrating because i do everything in the manual to program it and i always have to close it manually. if it worked right it would of be an excellent product.Easy install and and worked with my existing home link to web. Very quiet operatingquiet, easy to install, easy to program...only complaint would be i wish it came with more than one opener, and my car opener wont recognize it, which all the other reviews warned me about, so i was expecting that..
