I have 10 foot ceilings in my new garage and I wanted to be able to have a high lift door track that brought the horizontal tracks close to the ceiling so that they wouldnt be hanging 7 ft off the ground. The high lift track, coupled with not wanting to have a traditional opener hanging there in the middle of everything either, made me decide to go with this jackshaft opener. Aside from the fact that it looks so much cleaner, this opener is quiet, it opens the door reasonably quickly, and it slows when it gets about 6 inches from the ground for a gentle close. Its got an automatic "deadbolt style" lock that locks and unlocks each time the door is opened, preventing forced entry. Since the motor is mounted beside the track and not in the middle of the garage, there is a remote activated light that you attach to the ceiling or wall by an outlet. it turns on and off wirelessly with the opener. ( you still have to plug it in to an outlet, but there is no wire from the opener to the light fixture.) The wall mounted opener pad has an led display that displays the time and temperature, which I thought was very convenient. The opener took me maybe 3 hours or so to install, but the installation instructions were well written and clear, and anyone with average mechanical ability could install it. While Ive only had it installed for one day, Im very impressed with the quality and features of the opener. Ive owned or installed about 10 or 12 openers in my life, and this one is the best hands down. I couldnt be happier with it.I installed this myself in my new house. It took about three hours to install, and was pretty easy to do. The unit installed rather quickly, and most of the rest of my time was spent routing and stapling the wires and cables, so that I ended up with a nice, clean look. There are a lot of parts, but the instructions are clear and easy to follow. This opener is very smooth and quiet. My garage door is a double-wide one, and the opener has no problem lifting it. I love the automatic door locking mechanism, which throws out a cylindrical pin to block the door from being lifted up when it's closed. The lock engages and disengages automatically when the opener stops and starts.Programming the remote light and the car remotes is easy. I couldn't be happier with this product. For me, it really beats having a traditional, ceiling-mounted opener.I have been looking for something like this that is affordable for awhile. A regular garage door opener wouldn't work on my door (without cutting the openers length down) since the upstairs limited the amount of travel with a opener installed. This took me about 1.5 hrs to install. The wired door control displays the time and temp in F or C. It has a motion sensor that will turn the light on anytime it senses motion or if the safety beam is broken, the motion sensor can be deactivated but the light coming on from the safety beam cannot. You do need to make sure to follow the directions especially where it describes how to set the upper and lower limits. And also not that in the directions it says the opener doesn't have to fit flush against the wall. The light is completely wireless you just have to plug it in.Over all I am very pleased with it.I have a steel I-Beam running across my garage directly behind the door tracks so when I purchased a standard ceiling mount I was disappointed that I couldn't use it thinking I just couldn't have a garage door opener. I looked online for other options and found this wall mount that is absolutely a fantastic opener. Takes up very little space, is very quiet and looks good. This was like $70 more than the ceiling mount I originally bought but well worth it. This was pretty easy to install. The hardest install sections was drilling the 3/4" hole in the track for the lock. Then adding another wall outlet closer to the opener was the next hardest part. Nothing was really to hard just time consuming, like hiding the wires took a while. The product works great so far but it's only been 3 days. This opener is fantastic in every way. It's built like a tank. It's nearly silent. It's easy to install, considering all the safety provisions (cable tension monitor, door lock mechanism, etc.). Installation ook about 3 hours total (my first install, unpacking and lots of reading and re-reading included!). My only beef is with programming the up and down points after installation. The directions are 99% clear, but one spot in the instructions was a little unclear. On the third try, it worked, and voila! It's a pleasure to use, and I'm in awe every time it raises and lowers my 8' X 16' Haas door with high-lift track setup. I also added a keyless entry for ultimate convenience and coolness. I would strongly recommend this controller to anyone and everyone!!! Pure quality by Chamberlain.Easy to install, very quiet, installed on a 10x10 shop door. Chose this type over standard because of very high ceilings (it's another 8' to 12' feet from top of door to ceiling). Didn't want all the support bracing hanging down. Also very easy to program and add remotes. I also installed helper springs as it was recommended to me by an installer-may not have needed them as it worked fine without. (Already had them purchased so I figured I might as well put them on.)If instructions are followed, the install and programing is easy and dependable. I love gadgets and is the reason I decided to purchase a side mount opener. I am glad I spent the extra money for an opener that is out of the way. The operation is very quiet. I like the way the speed changes from a slow start, faster travel and slow to a stop. I would purchase this opener again and have recommended it to several friends. After installing and trouble shooting the control board was replaced and the unit work as designed. Used on a 11' x 16' sectional door. Does the job quietly. Great opener. Remote light works great. Just what I wanted for the job. Did not us the deadbolt because the door is to heavy to lift from the outside.
